Mustafa Al-Khreisat, the reserve’s manager, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Saturday that this growth was due to the reserve's enhanced role in environmental awareness and its inclusion of school trips, a practice that was not common in previous years. This reflects the growing interest in environmental issues and environmental education in Jordan.

He added that the reserve, which spans more than 1,100 dunams, offers visitors a complete tourism experience under the supervision of specialized guides who educate them about the reserve's wildlife and plant life, while also ensuring safety standards for a secure and beneficial experience.

Al-Khreisat explained that the reserve provides comprehensive care for its animals, addressing behavioral, psychological, and medical aspects according to international standards.

He pointed out that the reserve hosts 286 species of native plants, including 8 species of rare orchids, 15 types of trees such as the pistachio, maple, oak, carob, and Aleppo pine, along with 18 species of rare plants and 11 endangered species.

The reserve also houses 11 species of reptiles, including the Greek tortoise and the giant green lizard, as well as 20 species of resident birds and 5 species of mammals, notably the Persian squirrel, which is considered locally threatened.
Al-Khreisat confirmed that the reserve is continuing its efforts to protect the environment and raise environmental awareness, while developing programs to attract more visitors and wildlife enthusiasts in the kingdom.
