AMMAN — Jordan is set to mark International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression today (Sunday).
Secretary General of the National Council for Family Affairs Mohammad Miqdadi said on Saturday that this day is a national milestone to look back on the Kingdom’s milestones in child protection and further entrenching children’s rights.

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Miqdadi added that various challenge face child and family protection efforts in Jordan, most notably a shortage in qualified and trained manpower capable of handling cases of child abuse, in addition to financial challenges that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
Elaborating on the effect of COVID-19, Miqdad said that the coronavirus has made it difficult for social workers to properly tend to their responsibilities, especially as it has imposed movement restrictions and suspended economic activities.
