The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Engineer Ahmed Maher Abu Al-Samen, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan, Hamad Rashid Al-Mari.

These agreements are part of Kuwait’s commitment, made during the 2018 Makkah Summit, to provide a $500 million concessional loan program to support Jordan’s development priorities and enhance essential services in various sectors.

The Public Education Infrastructure Project aims to meet the growing demand for vocational school buildings by establishing five technical and vocational schools in the governorates of Irbid, Amman, Ajloun, Karak, and Zarqa. The schools will collectively offer 108 classrooms, helping to improve vocational and technical education for students in grades 10, 11, and 12. The project will also address overcrowding in schools by providing additional seating capacity and equipping new vocational schools.

Meanwhile, the Roads and Bridges Rehabilitation Project seeks to enhance traffic flow and safety on roads and bridges. The project includes maintenance work on various road segments totaling approximately 2,528 kilometers, along with bridge maintenance in the northern, central, and southern regions. It also involves rehabilitating drainage structures and implementing road safety measures.

During the signing ceremony, Minister Toukan expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Kuwait’s continuous support, emphasizing the strong bilateral relations and strategic partnership with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. She noted that the Fund’s total development cooperation with Jordan between 1962 and 2024 amounted to approximately $2.1 billion, including $1.33 billion in grants for development projects and around $778 million in concessional loans.

For his part, the Director General of the Kuwait Fund reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting Jordan’s development efforts, emphasizing the ongoing partnership to help Jordan implement its economic and development plans and provide essential services to its citizens.
