He stated that the ministry has introduced new regulations, instructions, and decisions related to occupational safety and health to enhance worker protection in the private sector.
These updates aim to increase employer compliance with providing a safe work environment for their employees, ultimately improving worker safety and well-being. A safer workplace leads to higher productivity and reduced downtime, benefiting business continuity by lowering workplace injury rates, in line with the annual report issued by the Social Security Corporation.
Al-Zayoud emphasized that ensuring workplaces have specialized occupational safety and health personnel, in accordance with these regulations, helps protect workers from occupational diseases and enhances institutional productivity.
He explained that the Ministry’s Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health, through its specialized teams in both central and field offices, continuously conducts workshops and awareness campaigns for employers and workers in the private sector regarding safety and health regulations.
Additionally, the directorate carries out inspections to verify compliance with safety and health standards. In 2024, occupational safety and health inspection teams conducted 14,511 specialized visits, resulting in 1,750 violations and 5,657 warnings issued to non-compliant establishments.
The directorate also investigated 138 workplace accidents, issued 2,135 accreditations for occupational safety and health personnel, conducted 23 awareness workshops, and launched two inspection campaigns to promote safety and health compliance.
Al-Zayoud urged private sector employers and workers to review the detailed occupational safety and health regulations published on the Ministry's official website.
