During a press conference, Al-Qaryouti stated that the establishment of a Passenger Transport Support Fund will contribute to the sustainability of the service, improve its quality, and ensure that transport services are provided at suitable costs for operators and users.
He added that the first phase of the public transport network restructuring project between governorate centers and the capital will include the most in-demand routes, serving the largest number of passengers.
Al-Qaryouti mentioned that 4 main routes will be launched in the first phase of the project to connect governorate centers with the capital. These routes are: Irbid-Amman, Jerash-Amman, Salt-Amman, and Karak-Amman.
He clarified that the passenger fare for the new project will remain the same as the current rates.
Additionally, he pointed out that the decision to exempt 50% of the licensing and permit fees for public transport vehicles operating under the authority of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission will benefit various types of vehicles, including large and medium buses, and taxis of all kinds. The decision also includes exempting licensed investment companies in the transport sector from financial dues by 25%.
