The director of the
Agriculture Directorate of Maan Governorate, Ahmed Al-Khattab, said that teams affiliated with the
directorate and within the areas of specialization, on Monday, struggled with
the last swarms of
locusts present in the Al-Jafr area.

He told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that all areas within
Maan Governorate are free of locust at the present time. He added that three
exploration teams are distributed across the governorate to monitor the swarms
entering from the eastern borders, explaining that these swarms are being dealt
with by five teams specialized in combating locusts.
Khattab indicated that eradication of the last pockets at
the Al-Jafr farms was recently completed, thus making the Maan governorate
currently free of locusts. He said that the loss of crops faced by farmers in
the governorate was very limited.
