MAAN — Maan municipality has started maintenance work on
roads side water gullies and the sewer and storm water drain network, in
preparation for winter conditions, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

On Wednesday, the head of the
Greater Maan Municipal Committee, Khaled Al-Hajjaj, said that within an emergency plan, general
maintenance work has begun targeting storm water drains, wadis, sewer networks
and road side gullies and anywhere rain water tends to accumulates.
The municipality will work on shoring up and
maintaining excavation sites around the city and any unregulated excavations in preparation
for adverse weather conditions.
He said that a tender was issued for the maintenance of
streets inside Maan, which includes the completion of maintenance works for
excavations, noting that the inventory of sites and streets targeted for
maintenance work has been completed.
Hajjaj said that the municipality will also maintain areas
outside the city where rock quarries are wide spread, and will carry out the maintenance
plan in cooperation with concerned authorities.
He said that the municipality had received equipment from
the US Agency for International Development (USAID) worth around JD280,000. The
municipality has also replaced 24 aging pieces of equipment and is in the
process of automating its work processes.
