On Monday, the Madaba Directorate of Awqaf celebrated Interfaith Harmony Week in the presence of Madaba Deputy Governor Rakan Al-Adwan, Islamic religious scholars, Christian clergy, and members of the local community.
اضافة اعلانDr. Issa Al-Bawarid, Director of Madaba Awqaf, stated during the celebration that the event coincides with the Kingdom's celebrations of the birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Loyalty and Allegiance Day, recalling the achievements of the Hashemites in Jordan and around the world, especially in promoting the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of Interfaith Harmony Week, an initiative of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
He highlighted the challenges faced by the region, particularly Palestine, and the human rights violations occurring in Gaza, as well as the violations of sacred sites and places of worship in mosques and churches.
On his part, the Mufti of Madaba, Yusuf Abu Hussein, emphasized the deep fraternal relations between the people of Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, who holds the guardianship of the holy sites.
He pointed out that Islam is based on balance, moderation, and equality among people, with no place for extremism, terrorism, or fanaticism. He stressed that terrorism is an individual act with no religion or homeland.
Father Yusuf Hamarna stated that Christian-Muslim harmony serves as a model for interfaith relations and is a cornerstone among the people of Jordanian society. He affirmed that the message of His Majesty the King carries a message to the world that unity is the framework for equality in rights and duties.
