AMMAN — HRH Prince Ghazi bin Mohammad on Monday, the chief adviser to His Majesty
King Abdullah for religious and
cultural affairs, represented His Majesty at the inauguration of the Astronomical Observatory in Wadi Rum, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The prince was briefed about the importance of the observatory, which is considered a new tourist draw and harmonizes will enable tourists to observe the sky, planets, stars, and galaxies.
It also aims to increase people’s knowledge about astronomy and expand scientific tourism in Jordan.
Jabal Umm ad Dami in Wadi Rum was selected as the location for the observatory. The summit is the highest summit in Jordan at 1,856 meters above sea level.
The project is part of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority’s vision to improve the tourism sector and promote both internal and external tourism.
