AMMAN — Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of
Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Suliman Farajat received
on Saturday Director of the
UNESCO Office in Jordan Min Jeong Kim, and her
accompanying delegation.

In a press statement, PDTRA said Farajat highlighted the relations
and cooperation between the authority and UNESCO since 1985, and discussed
achievements in the efforts to preserve the city's archaeological site, one of
the “7 New Wonders of the World.”
Farajat added that Petra's sustainable tourism management process
balances between preserving the site, tourism development and engagement of
local communities, noting that the PDTRA is working to review Petra's
comprehensive plan aimed to develop tourism services in the region in a manner
reflecting its global position.
During a tour of Petra archaeological site, Jeong was
briefed on the rehabilitation work that the PDTRA has recently carried out
during the tourism suspension due to the COVID-induced repercussions.
Petra joined the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985..
