AMMAN — A team from
Princess Sumaya University for Technology recently took first place in the
International Collegiate Programming Competition’s (ICPC) Middle East and Africa category, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The competition was held in Moscow, Russia, and featured some 450,000 students over the course of a full year.
The winning team from Jordan consisted of Muhammad Abu Aboud, Mutasim Al-Kayed, and coach Firas Al-Ghanim, along with the dean of King Hussein College of Computing Sciences Ashraf Al-Ahmad, who acted as a supervisor.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the president of the university Mashhour Al-Rifai congratulated the winners, the coach, and the supervisor, stressing that the achievement consolidates the university’s presence at international forums, the efforts of its students, and their tireless quest to hone their scientific and practical skills.
Ahmad said that the competition is the largest in the field of programming, and major companies such as Google and Facebook compete to attract participants from the competition.
