According to the
Petra Development Tourism Region Authority, the increased number of visitors bodes well for the recovery of the tourism sector in the city and indicates that hotels, restaurants, local shops, and tourist bazaars have resumed their work after being halted as a potential vector of the virus.
The number of foreign tourists is expected to significantly increase in November, due to the start of low-cost flights subsidized by the government.
During the period of the pandemic, The authority worked to rehabilitate and restore the paths in the archaeological site of Petra and launched several new projects, including the heritage village.
