AMMAN — The Mafraq Water
Department on Wednesday announced that the pumping of water to a number of neighborhoods
in Al-Khalidiyah Municipality had been halted after citizens reported the water
was turbid, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The department’s director,
Basel Basbous, said that water samples were taken from the two wells which
supply the affected areas, adding they were sent to central laboratories in
Amman for testing.
He added that the Mafraq
Health Department took more samples from areas within the governorate for
testing.
Basbous told Petra that his
department had provided 250 cubic meters of water to the affected neighborhoods,
which will be enough to cover the citizens’ need.
For his part, Mayor of Al
Khalidiyah Mukhled Al-Hammad said that the complaints were immediately reported
to Mafraq health and water departments to take the necessary measures and find
