AMMAN— Waste sorting in the neighborhood of Radwan has
managed to save some JD12,000 in fuel, according to the Director of the
Environmental Studies and Awareness Department, Omar Arabiyat.

He said that the municipality, in cooperation with a team
from the Middle East Center for Empowering Initiatives and Future Pioneers,
launched an awareness and evaluation campaign for the
waste sorting project.
The awareness campaign convinced occupants of residential and office buildings
in the Radwan neighborhood to switch out traditional containers with those
specially labeled for recycling and organic waste.
Arabiyat pointed out that some 450 tonnes of recyclable
waste has been collected in the Radwan neighborhood since the project was
launched at the beginning of last year, according to the Jordan News Agency,
Petra.
