اضافة اعلانAccording to statistics obtained by Jordan News Agency (Petra), the number of inbound containers through the port rose to 41,519 containers in January 2025, compared to 22,332 containers in January 2024.

Reasons for the Increase
Jordan Logistics Syndicate President Nabil Al-Khatib attributed the rise in inbound and outbound container traffic to:
- Stabilization in the Red Sea region, which has facilitated smoother container ship arrivals.
- Increased container shipments to Syria and the Palestinian territories via Aqaba, with expectations of further growth in the coming months.
Future Prospects and Recommendations
Al-Khatib, who also serves as the First Vice President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the need to:
- Enhance human resources and cargo-handling equipment at Aqaba Port.
- Provide additional incentives for transit goods passing through Jordan.
- Strengthen logistical operations to restore Aqaba's role as a major regional transit hub.
He stressed that revitalizing Aqaba’s port activities would positively impact Jordan’s overall economic activity, particularly in the transportation sector, which serves as a vital driver for trade, services, and industry.
