Workshop trains doctors on handling sexual assault cases

AMMAN — The Ministry of Health on Monday organized a workshop for medical staff on the clinical procedures followed in dealing with cases of sexual assault.اضافة اعلان

Assistant Secretary General for Primary Care Ghazi Skharkas said the official procedural manual, published in 2019, is among measures taken to develop services offered to victims of domestic violence, calling on the attending physicians and nurses to use what they learn to handle cases of sexual assault with greater professionalism.

Head of the women and children’s health directorate at the ministry, Hadeel Al-Saeh, said that all incoming reports are dealt with confidentiality, urging all those exposed to sexual violence to report incidents to the family protection committees at the ministry’s hospitals and health centers.
