AMMAN — Arab photographers and
divers plunged into the depths of the Red Sea to document the vastly diverse
marine environment of the Gulf of Aqaba as part of the second Arab Underwater
Photography Championship, which ran from March 10–14, Addustour daily reported.
During the championship, organized through
a partnership between the Royal Jordanian Marine Sports Federation and Ayla Oasis, underwater photographers captured hundreds of distinctive images from
the most renown diving sites in the port city of Aqaba.
In the “wide-angle” and “wide-angle with
diver” categories, Jordanian Lina Al-Abdullah won first place. In the
“close-up” category, Egyptian Hossam Nassef won, while Kuwait’s Rashid
Al-Marchoud took first in the “theme” category.
