The tragicomedy film "Anora" won the prestigious Best Picture award at the 97th Academy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, USA, on Sunday. The event was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Ariana Grande opening the show with a song from the musical "Wicked." Cynthia Erivo joined her in the performance.

"Anora" also earned Best Director for its filmmaker, Sean Baker, while actress Mikey Madison, who portrayed "Annie" in the film, took home the award for Best Actress. American actor Adrien Brody won Best Actor for his role in "The Brutalist," which was nominated for 10 awards.
Costume designer Paul Tazewell received a standing ovation for becoming the first Black person to win the Best Costume Design award.
