different shapes and colors in
ColorTrap Studio, founded in 2020 by Jordanian

scratch.

ColorTrap Studio arose from a desire to discover different
materials, textures, colors, and designs.
“I always think outside the box, and experiment with new
materials,” Samawi told
Jordan News in an interview, adding that she is
passionate about creative, handmade, products. During free time in the pandemic,
she has started to experiment with new materials and got new ideas.

She is passionate about art and enjoys making interesting and
unique pieces that, according to her, need a lot of creativity.
Samawi’s first phase in creating decorative items was testing
materials to choose what she found suitable; the second phase was designing the
decorative pieces.
“I wanted to create unique designs and pieces which are difficult
to imitate in Jordan,” Samawi said, adding that she prefers pieces that are not
only useful home decoration items, but also excellent gifts for friends.

Her decorative items add beauty and art to interiors, and also make
them more elegant and trendy.
Samawi creates planters, vases, mirrors, and a variety of
decorative items; her degree in architecture has helped her career in a variety
of ways, in designing and creating shapes.
She said that she uses diverse materials to create decorative
pieces, including clay and concrete, which are locally sourced.

“In terms of the body, I wanted something to embrace the body and
the femininity,” Samawi said, explaining the reason for creating nude body
shapes, which help women embrace their bodies with all their curves, and to
break the society stereotype about perfect body measurements.
Samawi also has a collection called The Art of Meditation, which
consists of a sequence of sculpted and handmade meditation postures in the
shape of nude bodies.
She said she tried to create shapes that break the norm, make women
confident with the uncomfortable things in their bodies, and embrace them.
She believes her unique decorative items breathe life into a space
and stand out due to their unique shape and style, and attract attention
wherever placed.
She used to get feedback that ColorTrap decorative pieces “are the
coolest gifts, and there is a story behind every gift”.
On the other hand, Samawi said that there is a part of society that
is afraid of being criticized for using her body shapes as decorative pieces,
as it is an uncommon thing in society, and that poses a challenge to her drive
to promote her products.
“While advertising my products on Instagram, I used to receive
messages containing ridicule and criticism,” she said, adding that,
nevertheless, many business owners with an artistic flair contacted her and
expressed willingness to have her products displayed.

Samawi takes the environment and sustainability into account, using
environmentally friendly materials for her products.
All her activities – creating the website and the online shop,
branding, photography, marketing, including on social media – are done by her;
she is the one responsible for ColorTrap Studio.
Samawi is planning to create furniture, lighting, and other
decorative items with rare and unique designs.
“I wanted to make a contemporary concept, by breaking the rules,” she
concluded.
