Filming has been halted since February 6, according to Turkish journalist Birsen, with the crisis escalating after the production company ignored the workers' demands. This led to the intervention of the Cinema and Television Union in Turkey.
The union issued a statement confirming that the workers' demands went unaddressed for weeks. The statement added, "When the workers refused to continue without a salary adjustment, they were met with threats of contract termination, putting them under immense pressure to resign. This behavior harms the reputation of the entire entertainment sector."
In response, the production company "Al-Qamar" issued a statement denying the allegations, claiming that the workers intentionally caused delays. The company clarified that the contracts signed with employees do not include any salary adjustments between August 2024 and April 2025.
The company further stated that some workers, despite not completing a full month of work, requested salary increases. They added, "On February 6, 2025, some individuals prevented equipment from reaching the filming location, causing a halt in production and hindering their colleagues."
The company emphasized that these actions are illegal and do not align with professional values, stressing that appropriate measures would be taken to protect the continuity of production.
The Arabic version of "Ezel" stars a group of notable Syrian and Lebanese actors, including Basel Khayat, Khaled El-Qish, Abbas Nouri, Pamela Al-Kik, and Zeina Maki.
