In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Ford discussed the use of AI to recreate his likeness in future projects, particularly after his de-aged digital appearance in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny flashback scenes.

"You don’t need AI to steal my soul. You can already do that with good ideas and talent," Ford remarked. He then lauded Baker’s performance, saying, "He did a fantastic job, and AI wasn’t necessary to achieve that."

"I’m Still Behind This Face"

Ford doesn’t seem too concerned about AI replacing actors. He added, "My plan is to keep working behind this face until I no longer care. I’m selling off pieces of it bit by bit while I’m still alive." He concluded, "I’ve been compensated. No need to worry about my situation."

AI remains a key issue for actors in the gaming industry, particularly in the ongoing negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and game developers amid a continuing strike.

Speaking to Eurogamer, veteran voice actress Jennifer Hale called AI "an existential issue for all of us." She emphasized the importance of control over voice usage:

"We need to be able to decide when our voices are used. I don’t want my voice in a project I don’t support or didn’t approve. We should be compensated when our voices are used because we are paid for our reach just as much as our time."

Talent Over AI

Ultimately, Baker’s performance as Indiana Jones proves that AI isn’t necessary to bring legendary characters to life—pure talent is enough.

Baker’s portrayal has received widespread acclaim, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle opening with a recreation of Raiders of the Lost Ark’s iconic intro scene.

In a glowing five-star review, Eurogamer called the game "smart, thrilling, and full of Indiana Jones spirit," hailing it as "a masterpiece of stealth-action gaming that heralds a bold new era for MachineGames." The publication also named it Game of the Year 2024.
