TORUN – On Saturday, Jordanian director Amjad
Al-Rasheed's debut feature film, “Inshallah A Boy” secured the Director’s Debut
Award at the
Camerimage Film Festival. The festival, held in Poland, celebrated
its tenth anniversary this year.

“
Inshallah A Boy” captivates audiences with
its poignant narrative, depicting the challenges faced by Nawal, a recent widow
striving to safeguard her daughter and home in a society where having a son
carries profound significance.
This latest recognition at Camerimage,
renowned for honoring cinematography through the coveted Director's Debut
(Golden Frog) Award, further underscores Rasheed's directorial prowess and the
film's
remarkable contribution to the cinematic landscape.
The film has been selected by the
Royal Film Commission of Jordan (RFC) to represent the nation in the 2024 Academy Awards
for Best International Feature Film, marking a significant milestone in
Jordanian cinema.
Directed by Rasheed and co-written with
Delphine Agut and Rula Nasser, the film features a stellar cast including Mouna
Hawa, Haitham Omari, Salwa Nakkara, Yumna Marwan, Mohammad Al-Jizawi, Islam
Al-Awadi, and Celina Rabab'a.
