A new research study has answered one of the long-standing questions: Who is more romantic between men and women?
The research, which compiled results from more than 50 previous studies on this subject, revealed that men are more romantic. They tend to fall in love faster, yearn for their partner more, and express their feelings first.

The study, published by Cambridge University, also indicated that men are less likely to initiate breakups, with 65% of breakups being initiated by women. Moreover, the study found that men benefit more from being in a relationship in terms of mental health and life expectancy.
Iris V. Währing, the lead author of the research at Humboldt University in Berlin, explained that men’s desire to enter relationships stems from their need for emotional intimacy.
She further explained that “men tend to share their struggles less with friends and family compared to women, leading to reduced emotional support from these social connections. Instead, men often rely heavily on their romantic partners for emotional support, which makes having a partner psychologically important.”
The study attributes this difference in romantic behavior to socialization, as boys are discouraged from expressing their emotions, which makes them more reliant on their romantic partners for emotional support. In contrast, women are raised to rely on a broader social network.
Experts emphasize the importance of fostering a culture that encourages men to build strong friendships outside of romantic relationships to meet their emotional needs and challenge societal norms that associate emotional vulnerability with weakness in men.
