A new study has shown that specific exercises can help effectively lose weight, with individuals potentially losing 3.175 kg in just 10 weeks.

The benefit of these exercises lies in the fact that water adds extra resistance, which increases calorie burn and promotes greater weight loss. Additionally, water helps reduce the pressure on joints such as the knees and ankles, lowering the risk of injuries, especially for individuals who are overweight.

Researchers from universities in Korea and China, who followed nearly 300 participants aged between 20 and 70, found that underwater exercises were particularly effective for women over 45.

The study included the results of 10 clinical trials from various countries, including Malaysia, Brazil, India, the United States, and the Netherlands, to analyze the impact of water exercises on weight loss.

All participants, who were either overweight or obese, took part in a water fitness program lasting from 6 to 12 weeks. The program included 2-3 weekly water exercise sessions, such as water Zumba and underwater treadmill training.

The results showed that participants lost an average of 2 kg in less than 10 weeks, while those who continued the exercises for 10 weeks or longer lost an average of 3 kg.

Dr. Jongchul Park, a researcher at Pukyong University in Korea, explained that further studies are needed to confirm that underwater exercises may be more effective than land-based exercises.

In a previous study conducted in Poland in 2017, it was found that overweight women lost an average of 3.4 kg after six months of underwater exercises.
