Sometimes, individuals experience rapid and sudden weight loss, which can be a sign of serious underlying health conditions.

British endocrinologist Dr. David Kavana explained to the Daily Mail: "Sudden weight loss may indicate certain diseases such as diabetes and thyroid disorders. Rapid weight loss is a common symptom in people with type 1 diabetes."اضافة اعلان

He added, "Body weight changes are linked to insulin dysfunction in people with type 1 diabetes. In these patients, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or insulin production is completely stopped. As a result, this hormone cannot transport glucose from food into the cells to be used as energy, leading to the depletion of fat and muscle reserves, which causes significant weight loss."

Dr. Kavana also pointed out that individuals with type 1 diabetes attempt to eliminate excess glucose by producing more urine. This increased urination leads to greater fluid loss from the body, which exacerbates weight loss.

On the other hand, British endocrinologist Dr. Christian Pollert noted that sudden weight loss could be related to thyroid diseases. Hyperthyroidism can speed up the body’s metabolism, causing weight loss despite increased appetite. In this case, patients may also experience symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, hand tremors, nausea, diarrhea, and chronic fatigue.
