Main Symptoms of Stroke in Young People
Dr. Yekaterina Demianovskaya, a neurology specialist, has warned that strokes can affect even young individuals, emphasizing that early recognition of symptoms is crucial for saving lives.اضافة اعلان

According to the doctor, there are two main types of strokes:

Hemorrhagic stroke: caused by the rupture of a blood vessel and bleeding into brain tissue.

Ischemic stroke (which accounts for 85–90% of cases): caused by the blockage of a blood vessel by a blood clot or cholesterol deposits.

She stressed that both types interrupt the blood flow to brain tissue and require urgent medical intervention to save the patient.

Key Warning Signs:
Sudden, severe headache (different from a regular headache), unresponsive to painkillers and worsens with light exposure

Nausea and vomiting

Severe dizziness and confusion

Sudden speech difficulties or trouble understanding speech

Weakness or numbness on one side of the body (including loss of sensation in limbs)

Facial asymmetry (e.g., a one-sided smile)

Vision disturbances (double vision or temporary blindness, even if brief)

Hallucinations or seizures in some cases

Even if the symptoms improve quickly, immediate medical attention is essential, as every minute counts and may impact recovery outcomes.

Dr. Demianovskaya warns:

“Although young people experience the same stroke symptoms as older adults, they often ignore or underestimate them, attributing them to fatigue or stress instead of seeking urgent care.”

She adds:

“People around the patient may also misinterpret these symptoms—especially in young individuals—mistaking them for food poisoning or exhaustion. However, this misdiagnosis can be fatal, as delays in appropriate stroke treatment can lead to serious complications, such as permanent paralysis, chronic speech disorders, or even respiratory failure.”

Prevention Tips from the Doctor:
Regular checkups: Monitor blood pressure and cholesterol levels routinely

Healthy lifestyle: Eat a balanced diet and engage in regular physical activity

Avoid harmful habits: Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake

Weight management: Maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI)

Dr. Demianovskaya emphasizes that adopting these preventive measures significantly reduces the risk of stroke, especially for those in high-risk groups.
