As the first Jordanian digital platform dedicated to championing Deaf content creators and delivering edutainment content in Arabic Sign Language, Masmou3 represents a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more inclusive media landscape.

The platform's genesis can be traced back to the poignant and intimate film, "Amplified," which serves as both its inspiration and birthplace.

Origins of the initiative
"Amplified" offers a powerful narrative that centers on Hind, a charismatic young Karate athlete living with a hearing disability. Her world takes a devastating turn when she becomes the victim of a harrowing incident at her Karate center.

What follows is a narrative journey that combines the sensual with the authentic, creating a sonic experience that delves deep into the repercussions of shattering the safe spaces that should be sacred to us all. The short narrative fiction film is written and directed by Dina Naser and produced by Batoul Ibrahim under the production company Madd Moshawash and was made possible through collaboration with the British Council and the Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein Club for the Deaf and Mute.

Dina Nasser and Batoul Ibrahim's collaboration on "Amplified" aimed to make film production disability-inclusive, breaking down barriers that have long hindered the representation of individuals with disabilities in the film industry. By casting a Deaf actress to portray Hind and ensuring accessibility through Arabic Sign Language, they set an example for others to follow, fostering inclusivity both on and off-screen.

"Amplified" resonates deeply with the Deaf community by authentically portraying Hind's experiences, highlighting her resilience, strength, and the beauty of her communication through sign language. This film bridges the gap between the Deaf and hearing worlds, fostering understanding and empathy. It reminds us that art and storytelling are universal languages that transcend barriers.

Dina Nasser’s approach
Dina Nasser's prior work includes the documentary "Tiny Souls" in 2019, a testament to her commitment to experimentation and discovery. In this evolving landscape, she saw the challenges that the Deaf community faces in the film industry, inspiring her to create "Masmou3."

Dina Nasser's dedication to her projects goes beyond the camera. She forms close relationships with her film characters, an approach she extends to her work on "Masmou3." Building trust and knowledge with her subjects is paramount, especially in her focus on supporting young girls who face societal pressures.

So comes “Masmou3”
The birth of "Masmou3" is a testament to the impact of "Amplified." This digital platform extends the reach of the film by providing a space for Deaf content creators to express themselves, share their stories, and educate using Arabic Sign Language. It represents a necessary evolution in the media landscape, championing diversity and inclusivity.

"Amplified" and "Masmou3" are not just entertainment; they are a call to listen. They amplify the voices of those who have been marginalized for far too long, offering a platform for expression and understanding.

Dina Nasser, Batoul Ibrahim, and the entire team behind "Amplified" have set a remarkable example of how art can elevate, enlighten, and include. They have cast a spotlight on the Deaf community and shown that their stories are not only worth telling but also worth listening to.

Universal language
"Amplified" resonates deeply with the Deaf community by not merely focusing on Hind’s challenges but also highlighting her resilience, strength, and the beauty of her communication through sign language. In doing so, it bridges the gap between the Deaf and hearing worlds, fostering a sense of understanding and empathy.

It serves as a reminder that art and storytelling are universal languages that transcend barriers. Through its portrayal of Hind's struggles and triumphs, it invites viewers of all backgrounds to connect with her on a human level, prompting reflection on the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces for everyone.

As the legacy of "Amplified" continues to resonate and "Masmou3" strives to create a more inclusive digital world, they hope that more filmmakers, platforms, and storytellers will follow in their footsteps. Through these endeavors, the chorus of voices in our media landscape will become truly representative of the rich tapestry of human experiences. After all, the power of storytelling lies not only in its ability to entertain but also in its capacity to connect, empower, and change the world for the better.

Through inclusivity and representation, these creators wish to ensure that the chorus of voices in our media landscape becomes truly representative of the rich tapestry of human experiences. After all, the power of storytelling lies not only in its ability to entertain but also in its capacity to connect, empower, and change the world for the better.
