His ideas are inspired by the surrounding environment and the cultural
heritage of the Middle East region.
“My designs differ as I adopt a special design theory that gives the
beholder a multi-visual enjoyment that depends on the angle one views the piece;
the pieces lend the space a special identity and uniqueness,” Sughair told
Jordan News.
The Arab, or Middle Eastern, influence in Sughair’s designs distinguish his
pieces from those of others. He considers himself “part of the inheritance
chain in the region” and therefore designs using the “heritage vocabulary” of
the region.
“I was inspired by Arab carpets, the plants of the region, the fishing
tools of the Arabian Gulf, and my latest collection, SiQ, is inspired by the
topography of
Wadi Rum,” Sughair said.
Establishing a brand and designing high-quality pieces depends in large
part on the materials, he said. He mainly uses different types of wood, but
also metal, porcelain, and acrylic to make his pieces of furniture
aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Sughair participated in many exhibitions, both in Jordan and abroad.
Among them, Dubai Design Week, several times, Milan Mood Design Fair, Amman
Design Week, Beirut Design Week, and sporadic participation in local
specialized exhibitions.
“In 2017, I won the Silver Award in the Home Furniture category ‘Italian
A’ Design Award’, and was nominated for the German Design Award 2022,” Sughair
said.
He also designs street and garden furniture; the project of a public
place seat was done in cooperation with Zain Communications Company. “It was a
design with an idea, identity, presence, and a very distinguished function,” he
said.

Sughair was visited by Her Majesty
Queen Rania. “Her Majesty's visit gave
me a powerful impetus for stability, continuity, and development,” he said.
Sughair is passionate about innovation and beautifying people’s lives, and
hopes to have an impact on friends, customers, and society.
He closely follows the news in the world of interior design, furniture,
and new materials, visits specialized international exhibitions in the Arab
world and Europe, and follows leading platforms in the field of design and
design technology.
He describes his designs as “innovative furniture in a modern format and
a unique presence with a modern heritage spirit” and strives to “achieve an
identity for the owners of the place, unique and distinct and keeping pace with
trends”.

What he hopes to achieve through his designs is “help humanity achieve a
better life, create and enhance society's appreciation and respect for the
capabilities of the Jordanian designer, establish the furniture design industry
in Jordan to be a link in the chain of the historical and future heritage of
the region by designing products in a modern and unique image bearing the
oriental spirit and heritage, matching design quality and productivity with
world-class products”.
By way of advice to other designers, he suggests “adhering to the
professional design path, continuous exposure to the new through exhibitions
and platforms, accurate understanding of the customer’s needs and expectations,
uniqueness and distinction, and benefiting from other people's experiences”.
It's worth mentioning that Yacoub Sughair is one of the many designers that are supported by Zain Jordan through “Dezain space” which was launched in 2018 to support the continual growth of the designing sector across the kingdom, and to shed light on Jordanian creative designs, in addition to providing the opportunity for the Jordanian designers to reach the markets, connecting them with other designers to collaborate with each other, mentoring them and empower them to expand their business and grow.
