European Countries Confirm Rejection of Any Role for Hamas in Gaza
Several European countries reiterated their stance, following a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday, that the Hamas movement should not play "any role" in the future of the Gaza Strip, according to a plan presented by Arab leaders.اضافة اعلان

The Acting Head of the French Mission to the United Nations in New York, Jay Darmad Hikari, stated to reporters, on behalf of France, Denmark, Greece, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom, "We are clear that the future plan should not give any role to Hamas, it should ensure Israel's security, and it should not displace Palestinians from Gaza."

He added that the plan "must support the unity of the West Bank and Gaza under the Palestinian Authority."

On Tuesday, Arab leaders adopted a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza and the return of the Palestinian Authority to the strip, as an alternative to the plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which suggested taking control of Gaza, relocating its residents, and turning it into the "Riviera of the Middle East."

The member states of the Arab League, meeting in Cairo, called for the unification of Palestinians under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

Following a closed Security Council meeting to discuss this issue on Wednesday, Hikari stated, "We welcome regional efforts aimed at unifying around a single plan for the next phase in Gaza, and we are ready to support and develop these ideas."

France and the four other countries also urged Israel to allow "unconditional" humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, emphasizing that this issue is "non-negotiable."

On Sunday, Israel announced a decision to suspend the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza amid a dispute with Hamas over how to continue implementing the fragile ceasefire agreement that came into effect on January 19, after 15 months of devastating war in the Palestinian enclave.
