AMMAN — International golf delegations were slated to
arrive in Aqaba on Tuesday for the 31st edition of the
Jordan International Open Golf Championship, which begins on Thursday and continues through
Saturday.

The tournament will
witness the participation of 50 players representing 15 countries, namely:
Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Bulgaria, Qatar, Lebanon, Slovenia, Sweden, Morocco,
Serbia, Bahrain, Cyprus, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Canada, after the
withdrawal of Egypt.
The players will
complete in trial rounds to explore the course before entering the official
competitions, said Majd Najada, the director of the Jordan Golf Federation and
a member of the championship’s organization and arbitration committee.
“What distinguishes
this year’s edition is the participation of European countries for the first
time, as a result of the tournament’s great reputation,” the director noted.
The national golf team will be represented by 10
players in the tournament: Hamza Salman, Muhammad Al Rawashdeh, Salem Al
Abdallat, Yasmine Dhaher, Daniel Dhaher, Rayan Hassan, Abdul Rahman Al Dhaher,
and Adam Tahan in the junior category, and Essam Jabaji and Joseph Fadi in the
men’s category.
