AMMAN — The
national badminton team achieved outstanding results in the sixth edition of the
Arab Badminton Cup, which recently concluded in Bahrain. The national team bagged two gold
medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals in the tournament in which 54
players from 11 Arab countries participated in.

Player Domou Amro won
a gold medal in the women’s singles, beating Egyptian player Doha Hany with a
score of 2–1; Amro also beat UAE player Hind Al-Janahi with a score of 2–0 in
the quarterfinals, she also won against her fellow national team player Marah
Omar 2–1 in the semi-finals.
Amro snatched the
title in the finals and won a gold medal after she beat Algerian Halla Bouksani
with a score of 2–0. Omar won a bronze medal after winning three times.
Omar and Amro both
were awarded gold medals for the women’s doubles category, after winning the quarterfinals
by beating two Bahraini players 2–0 and beating two Saudi players 2–0 in the semi-finals,
and finally winning the finals after against two Algerian players with a score
of 2–1.
Bahaa Al-Shnaik received
a silver medal for his performance in the men's singles tournament. He opened
with a win over the Bahraini Elyas Jaffar 2–0; Shnaik also beat Egyptian Adham
Al-Jamal 2–0. In the quarterfinals, Jamal beat Algerian Adel Abdelaziz 2–0, Shnaik
continued his winning streak by beating Ahmad Al-Jallad before losing the
finals to the Bahraini Adnan Ibrahim 2–1.
Shnaik and Amro won
the mixed doubles competitions after beating the Iraq and Algeria duo, but they
lost the final to the Egyptian pair.
The duo of Ezzedine
Abu Arrah and Shnaik also won the bronze medal for the men's pair after winning
against the Iraq and Bahrain duo but losing the semi-finals to the Algeria duo.
