On Sunday, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its disapproval of statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in American media, describing them as "claims and deliberate misinformation."
اضافة اعلانIn a statement, the ministry emphasized, "Egypt confirms that these statements aim to cover up and distract attention from the flagrant violations committed by Israel against civilians, including the destruction of vital Palestinian facilities such as hospitals, educational institutions, electricity stations, and drinking water plants, as well as using siege and starvation as weapons against civilians."
The ministry added, "Egypt expresses its complete rejection of any statements targeting the displacement of the Palestinian people to Egypt, Jordan, or Saudi Arabia, and expresses its solidarity with the heroic people of Gaza, who hold on to their land despite all the horrors they face to defend their just and legitimate cause. It also reaffirms its commitment to the firm Egyptian and Arab principles, based on the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital."
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu accused Egypt of preventing Gaza residents from leaving the enclave, stating, "Some were offering bribes to the border guards. Therefore, only the very wealthy were able to leave, but those who wanted to leave could not." He further added that Palestinians in Gaza should be given the option to relocate elsewhere.
Netanyahu also claimed that Palestinians in Gaza wanted to leave the strip, and stated he had received many requests from Palestinians to leave Gaza even before the war broke out on October 7, 2023.
With U.S. support, the Israeli occupation has committed what many describe as genocide in Gaza over the course of 15 months, leaving around 160,000 Palestinians dead or injured, mostly women and children, and more than 14,000 missing.
