AMMAN — Jordanian fencing marked a
historic achievement at the
Asian Fencing Championship, being held in the
Uzbek capital Tashkent.

More than 500 sportsmen and women are representing
25 Asia countries, take place in the competition in which Jordanians Iyad Odeh and
Abdullah Al-Tahla received bronze medals in the epee weapon Under-20 category
and Saber weapon of the same category, respectively.
The two members of the national team
showed great levels of performance.
Head of the Fencing Federation
Khaled Al-Attiyat expressed satisfaction with the results of these young
sportsmen, “which came as a result of the great efforts made by everyone over
the past period, and which confirmed the development of the fencing sport, which
made it reach the first ranks on the Asian continent”.
Attiyat said in statements published
on the official website of the Jordan Olympic Committee: "We congratulate
the whole Jordanian fencing family for this distinguished achievement, which
enhances our ambition to continue sponsoring and supporting all national team
players,”.
His message also said that “we
appreciate the great efforts made by the technical staff supervising all
national teams, the
Olympic Committee, headed by His Highness Prince Faisal bin
Al Hussein, for its permanent support for the national teams and its keenness
to provide the necessary support to all players.”
