Performance recipe

AMMAN — From a general perspective, it is easy to assume that the responsibility in terms of performance lies on the shoulder of the coach and/or the player. Nonetheless, it is imperative that we study the factors leading up to such performance and development milestones.اضافة اعلان

First, we must examine what a successful performance is; is it the final result for an individual sport athlete? Is it a better performance from the previous match or tournament? What are the identifiers of a successful performance?
Sometimes an “average” performance is a really good performance.

But players must understand what an average performance is, and that sometimes the player might feel “flat” and that performing an “average” performance that day is good enough.

By that approach, we can increase the chance of eliminating a “bad” performance. So maybe, understanding and accepting an “average” performance will lead to more “excellent” performances.

Most players feel that it is their responsibility to perform every time.

Most coaches feel it is their responsibility to bring out the best performance every time, interestingly, most administrators do not share the same personal responsibility towards players performance.

Sports administrators that are directly involved with players and coaches must share the same responsibilities.

If they are “directing” players by giving them “advice” and “motivational talks”, if they choose players to sign, if they choose the coach and coaching team, then they must be held accountable to performance as well.

They are influencing performance directly and indirectly and most of the time, they do not feel nor are they sharing the pressure of the player or the coach, though, eventually, they are advocated as elements of success if the team succeeds.

Successful coaches have the ability to transfer the knowledge of the game as well as the knowledge in the game.

Knowledge of the game is more common in coaches; it is the practice of coaching a general game understanding, tactical responsibilities, game models and principles of play.

As for knowledge in the game refers to situational knowledge; this is the practice of providing players with the necessary tools to adapt to unpredictable behaviors and “processing” the new information as the game unfolds.

Successful players also have both, knowledge of and knowledge in the game.

This is predominantly an acquired skill for players that have been “subjected” to the “right” environment.

Which requires having a group of players around you that share similar goals, objectives, and intrinsic motivation towards success, having a training history that has built the foundation for the necessary attributes to develop, as well as having a coach that can transfer the knowledge of and knowledge in the game in a safe and challenging environment (which is created by the club, team, etc.) — hence the sports administrators responsibilities.

So, what do we need for better performances?
