Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced new updates to the app's system requirements, which will result in the service being discontinued on a range of older smartphones starting May 5, 2025. This move aims to enhance security and ensure compatibility with newer operating systems.اضافة اعلان

According to the company, these updates are part of a regular policy to review devices and operating systems that no longer meet the app's requirements, making some older phones unable to run WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.

Although the number of affected users is not large, those still using phones older than ten years may need to reconsider their devices, especially since many of these phones no longer receive official updates from manufacturers, as reported by Metro.

Phones That Will Lose WhatsApp Support in May 2025:

iPhones: iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

All iOS devices running versions older than iOS 15.1

Additionally, phones running older Android versions like KitKat and below will no longer be supported. WhatsApp stopped supporting these phones as of January 1, 2025.

Some of these devices may still run WhatsApp if the operating system is updated to a newer version, but in many cases, no official support is available to do so. The following devices are affected:

Samsung: Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S4 Mini

Motorola: Moto G (1st gen), Razr HD, Moto E (2014)

HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601

LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90

Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

Can Users Bypass These Updates? Some users may consider modifying their phones to install a newer operating system through unofficial methods. However, Meta has warned against such practices, as they could void the warranty or even "permanently damage the device."
