AMMAN — Jordan's Ahmad Hindi won a gold medal in the
F34 shot put at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games on Saturday.
Hindi took first place and won the gold medal after
breaking the world record — previously held in his name — and setting a new
Olympic record of 12.25 meters.

Moroccan Ezzedine Nouri finished second and won the
silver medal after recording a distance of 11.55 meters, while Qatari
Abdelkader Abdulrahman came in third and won the bronze medal after recording a
distance of 11.36 meters.
This is Jordan's fourth
gold medal at the current
edition of the Paralympic Games after 3 gold medals were won by the national
team weightlifting champions Omar Qarada, Abd Alkareem Khattab, and Jamil
Al-Shibli, along with a bronze won by table tennis player Khattam Abu Awad.
Jordan's previously won only one gold medal at the
Paralympic Games, which began in 1984, by Maha Barghouti in table tennis in
Sydney in 2000.
