AMMAN — Omar Qarada clinched
Jordan’s first Para powerlifting gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
on Thursday, defeating Vietnam’s Lee Van Cong, according to Al-Ghad news.

This medal is the first to be
won by Jordan and the Arab world at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which
hosts 234 male and female players and represents 18 Arab countries.
This is the third medal won by Qarada at the Paralympics. He won two silvers at the 2008 Beijing games
and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games.
Muhammad Tarbash, another Jordanian participating in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, is set to compete in the 65kg weightlifting category on Friday.
