Details of the Severe Cold Polar Wave "Al-Jalmoud" in Jordan and Its Expected Timing
Raed Rafi' Al-Khatib, Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department, announced that the Kingdom will be affected by a severe cold polar wave, which has been named "Al-Jalmoud."اضافة اعلان

The Meteorological Department chose this name to describe the polar wave due to its extreme cold and harsh nature, similar to the solid and intense impact of a boulder (jalmoud) on the surrounding environment. This wave is expected to reach Jordan and the eastern Mediterranean by the end of this week and the beginning of the next, bringing a significant drop in temperatures and very cold weather, especially at night.

Details of the Expected Weather Conditions:

Al-Khatib clarified that the incoming polar wave will bring:

A noticeable drop in temperatures due to the movement of a very cold air mass coming from the North Pole.
Rainfall of varying intensity, concentrated in the western part of the Kingdom.
Strong winds, especially in open areas, which will lead to dust storms in desert and eastern regions.
Snow showers on Saturday, mainly over high elevations in the north and south of the Kingdom.
Improved chances of snowfall on Sunday night and Monday morning, potentially affecting northern, central, and southern highlands, as well as eastern mountains. However, it is still early to precisely determine accumulation amounts.
Continuous Monitoring and Updates

Al-Khatib emphasized that the Jordan Meteorological Department is closely monitoring the weather developments and urged citizens to stay updated with the latest information and take necessary precautions, especially in areas expected to be affected by rain, snow, and strong winds.
