Richard Peeperkorn, the WHO representative for Gaza and the
West Bank,
emphasized that the situation is particularly severe in
northern Gaza. One in six children under the age of two in this region suffers from acute malnutrition. Among them, nearly three percent experience severe
wasting, the most life-threatening form of malnutrition.
Urgent treatment is crucial to prevent medical complications and
death inthese young children. It is important to note that this data was collected in
January, so the situation may be even worse today.
