reported.

Edan Kleiman, head of the
organization, is an Israeli veteran who was injured in Gaza in the 1990s. He
told the Associated Press, “I have never seen such a range of fighting and with
such intensity. We must
rehabilitate these soldiers…the Israeli authorities do
not realize the seriousness of the situation,” noting that there will be a huge
new wave of wounded soldiers coming in.
He said that his organization, which sponsors more than
50,000 soldiers who were injured in the current and previous wars, has tripled
its workforce. They are continuously
employing therapists and workers to help
wounded soldiers, as well as update rehabilitation centers.
The number of casualties in the current war is likely to
reach about 20,000, he added. Noting that “if wounded soldiers do not receive
the mental and physical care they need, including facilitating their access to
their homes or cars, this may hinder their rehabilitation or even prevent them
from returning to work.”
