WASHINGTON
– Nasser Beydoun revealed on social media that the Israeli lobby group AIPAC
had contacted him, offering $20 million to run against
Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib in Michigan. Beydoun is the second candidate to receive such an offer,
following Senate candidate Hill Harper, who spoke of a similar proposition last
week.

Expressing
his stance on AIPAC's influence on elections and foreign policy, Beydoun
stated, "Even with my clear position, the pro-Israel lobby audaciously
suggested that I would consider taking a dime from them." He added that he
was asked to "run against my friend Rashida Tlaib."
Beydoun
criticized the pro-Israel lobby, asserting, "The lobby will go to any
length to remove anyone from the US Congress opposing their agenda and showing
unwavering support for Israel, regardless of its actions,” Middle East Monitor,
CNN reported.
Congresswoman
Tlaib, representing Michigan’s 12th District, is the sole Palestinian-American
in the US House of Representatives, known for her critique of Israel’s
occupation and Gaza invasion.
Earlier
this month, the House of Representatives voted to censure Tlaib for statements
that irked the Zionist lobby and the US right-wing, including her use of the
slogan “From the river to the sea.”
Politico
initially reported on November 22 that Michigan businessman Linden Nelson had
offered Harper $20 million in campaign funds to stand against Tlaib in next
year’s Democratic primary race.
