RAMALLAH — Israel has released a total of 78 Palestinian prisoners, with 39 freed on Friday and an additional 39 released late on Saturday, in accordance with the temporary truce agreement and ongoing exchanges. However, simultaneous with these releases, Israel has persisted in detaining more Palestinians through daily raids in the occupied West Bank.

Following the initial prisoner release, the Palestinian Prisoners Club reported that at least 17 Palestinians were arrested in the West Bank on Saturday. Despite these ongoing detentions, large crowds and families warmly greeted released Palestinian prisoners, celebrating the freedom of another 39 individuals at the close of the second day of the four-day truce agreement and prisoner-captive exchange deal, Al Jazeera reported.
Among those released is Israa Jaabis, a Palestinian woman who faced charges of attempted murder after her car exploded near an Israeli checkpoint in 2015, causing severe burns. Jaabis, welcomed home by her family, expressed her emotions about yearning to reunite with family, emphasizing the sacrifices prisoners endure.
In a statement to the media after her release on Saturday night, Jaabis touched on her visible wounds and struggles, stating, “My wounds are visible, and my struggles, I don’t need to talk about.”
She also voiced concerns for fellow Palestinians still in custody, particularly young girls who, she claimed, had undergone distressing experiences. “I’m talking about the small girls. They have been through things that nobody should witness,” Jaabis conveyed to journalists.
