On Wednesday, the ministry reported that 7,117 Syrian refugees have departed from refugee camps in Jordan to Syria, while 35,558 Syrians have left from various regions across the kingdom.

The Ministry confirmed that all Syrians who left Jordan did so voluntarily.

Jordan decided on December 6, 2024, to close the Jaber border crossing, which is opposite Syria's Naseeb crossing, due to the security situation in southern Syria.

The Ministry of Interior also revealed the categories of individuals permitted to enter and exit via the Jaber border center, which connects Jordan and Syria.

According to a letter from the Minister of Interior, the ministry specified certain groups of Jordanians and Syrians who are allowed to enter and exit through the Jaber center to Syrian territory.

The Ministry outlined that entry and exit are subject to the usual travel procedures and the absence of security obstacles, while continuing to allow previously approved categories to use the Jaber border center.

As per the letter, the Ministry allowed Jordanian investors who have commercial registrations with specific capital, employees of commercial banks operating in Syria, and Jordanian businessmen who hold membership cards from Syrian chambers of commerce and industry to enter and exit.

Jordanian students studying at Syrian universities were also allowed entry, provided they have the necessary academic documents, as well as official Jordanian delegations, including economic delegations.

Regarding Syrians, the Ministry permitted entry and exit via the Jaber border crossing for investors and their families who have Jordanian commercial registrations with specific capital, as well as Syrians who have acquired Jordanian citizenship, whether through a Jordanian passport or a Syrian passport.

The Ministry’s decision aims to allow these groups to keep up with developments and contribute to both the Jordanian and Syrian economies by boosting commercial movement during this phase, which will support stability in Syria and help restore normal life. This is being achieved by facilitating travel between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic via the Jaber border center.
