A Turkish center for earthquake research reported five aftershocks following the quake.
According to the Turkish disaster management agency Afad, the quake’s epicenter was in the Defne district of Turkey’s Hatay province, the same region that was struck earlier this month.
The impact of the quake was felt in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.
In Jindires and Azaz in northern Syria, a number of buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, with calls for civil defense teams to go immediately to the area.
Just two weeks previous, two powerful earthquakes struck the area, killing over 46,000 people in both countries.
