According to Al Mamlaka, Rifai stated on Tuesday that UNRWA
facilities and schools are lacking basic necessities due to the lack of fuel
and humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip.
She called for the urgent entry of
fuel and humanitarian aid trucks in a continuous flow, not just "drops," and for a cessation of
hostilities. She also called for the establishment of a safe passage for
humanitarian teams and trucks through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt and
other crossings.
Al-Rifai mentioned that 64
UNRWA staff members, including
doctors, engineers, teachers, and more, have lost their lives. Family members
of UNRWA staff have also been killed.
Israeli forces have targeted over 40 UNRWA facilities and
buildings, with schools serving as shelters for displaced individuals from
their homes in Gaza.
