TEL AVIV – On Wednesday, the Israeli Knesset endorsed Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of establishing a Palestinian state
after increased international calls to revive efforts for a
two-state solution.

In a decisive majority vote, 99 out of 120
Knesset members supported Netanyahu’s declaration, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
Netanyahu stated on social media that Israel will not accept
“imposed solutions.”
This stance emphasizes that any permanent agreement with the
Palestinians must be reached through direct negotiations between the two
parties rather than through international pressure.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned this vote,
asserting that Israel is holding the rights of the Palestinian people hostage
through the forceful occupation of territories where Palestinians seek to
establish a state. The ministry emphasized that Palestine’s full membership in
the UN and recognition by other nations do not require permission from
Netanyahu.
Despite international efforts, little progress has been made
toward achieving a two-state solution, which aims to establish a Palestinian
state in the
occupied West Bank and Gaza alongside Israel. Obstacles include
expanding Israeli settlements in territories captured during the 1967 Middle
East War.
The two-state solution remains a core policy for many
Western countries in the region. Recently, the US has been pushing for
Palestinian statehood as part of a broader Middle East deal that includes
normalization of relations between Israel and other Arab states.
