GAZA — Palestinian
President Mahmoud Abbas cautioned on Saturday against displacing Gazans and
West Bank Palestinians in his
Cairo Peace Conference address. He decried
ongoing attacks by occupiers and settlers in the West Bank, emphasizing his
commitment to international legitimacy and endorsing the two-state solution,
ending the occupation, and resolving the refugee issue. Abbas pledged that the
Palestinian people would remain in their homeland.

Meanwhile, Egyptian
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed on the same day that settling the
Palestinian issue at Egypt's expense was improbable, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
He pointed out that
Egypt never closed the
Rafah border crossing, blaming Israeli shelling for its
intermittent operation.
Sisi announced an
agreement with US President Joe Biden to operate Rafah continuously, with UN,
UNRWA, and
Palestinian Red Crescent coordination.
He expressed
astonishment at the global inaction amidst a Palestinian catastrophe,
condemning violence against civilians and rejecting forced displacement as a
solution. Egypt aims to build a roadmap for the peace process.
