TEL AVIV – Hebrew media revealed an initiative presented by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who met him at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah last weekend, under which he would accept the return of the Authority’s control over the Gaza Strip in place of the Hamas movement.اضافة اعلان

According to what was published by the Hebrew Channel 12, the initiative included several points, most notably the implementation of the “two-state solution,” the Security Council’s recognition of Palestine’s membership in the United Nations, the holding of an international conference to implement the “Arab Peace Initiative” (presented by Saudi Arabia in 2002), and the formation of a Palestinian government. That government would govern the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

According to the Hebrew sources, Abbas demanded that the Authority assume exclusive control over the crossings with Jordan and Egypt, open a safe corridor between Gaza and the West Bank, build a port in Gaza and an airport in the West Bank, as well as integrate young men from Gaza into the security services of the Palestinian Authority, carry out reforms and hold general elections in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, without Israeli opposition.
