AMMAN — Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas held a crucial
meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to address the latest developments
regarding the
Palestinian issue and the ongoing political and diplomatic
efforts aimed at garnering international support for Palestine's full membership
in the UN.

The leaders also delved into discussions regarding an
advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice, examining the
legality, form, and eligibility of the
Israeli regime, which acts as the
occupying state and enforces apartheid policies on Palestinian land, Amad News
reported.
A comprehensive briefing on the continuous violations
President Abbas provided a comprehensive briefing to his
Chinese counterpart on the continuous violations committed by the Israeli
occupation against the Palestinian people.
These violations include unilateral Israeli measures such as
the expansion of settlements, frequent acts of violence resulting in loss of
life, desecration of holy Christian and Islamic sites in Jerusalem, disregard
for signed agreements, and the misappropriation of
Palestinian tax revenues.
Exploring bilateral relations
During their meeting, the two presidents explored avenues to
strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between their nations across
various domains, with a focus on promoting the welfare of both friendly
peoples. They exchanged views on recent developments in the Palestinian issue,
as well as regional and international matters of mutual concern.
President Abbas expressed his deep appreciation for the
robust bilateral relations established between
Palestine and China, which have
endured for 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He reaffirmed
Palestine's unwavering commitment to the "One China" principle and
active participation in the Belt and Road Initiative.
President Abbas also highlighted the importance of further
enhancing cooperation with China in all fields. He expressed confidence in
China's continued political and economic support, which serves to
bolster the resilience of the Palestinian people.
President Abbas conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for
China's unwavering political support in the
Palestinian people's quest to
regain their legitimate national rights, freedom, and independence.
The meeting witnessed the presence of notable attendees,
including Ziad Abu Amr, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine
Liberation Organization and Deputy Prime Minister; Riyad al-Maliki, Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Expatriates; Mohammed Mustafa, Chairman of the Palestinian
Investment Fund; Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Judge of Palestine; Mahmoud Al-Khaldi,
Diplomatic Affairs Advisor to the President; and Ambassador Faisal Mekdad,
Palestinian Ambassador to China.
To honor President Abbas, an official reception ceremony was
held, featuring the
national anthems of Palestine and
China. The event was
followed by an inspection of the guard of honor.
An invitation to China
President Abbas commenced his three-day official state visit
to the People's Republic of China on Tuesday, graciously accepting an
invitation from
President Xi Jinping. During his visit, Abbas is set to hold
meetings with several senior Chinese officials, and a number of agreements
between the two nations will be signed, further solidifying their cooperation
and partnership.
