Eyewitnesses told Petra’s reporter in
Ramallah that the radical settlers carried out today’s raids under heavy protection of Israeli special police.
The settlers toured the mosque's yards, took photos and performed Talmudic rituals inside the compound, while Muslim worshipers and Al-Aqsa’s guards peacefully confronted them, the eyewitnesses added.
The settlers have upped their raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque over the past few days under the pretext of the Jewish holidays, and the so-called the temple mount groups have called on extremist settlers to storm Al-Aqsa Tuesday, which coincides with the "Sukkot " holiday.
Meanwhile, occupation forces detained 17 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem Saturday as the occupation army announced it is raising its alert level ahead of the Jewish holidays.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club said in a statement that occupation forces stormed the cities Ramallah, El Bireh, Bethlehem, Hebron, Tulkarem and several neighborhoods of East Jerusalem, and rounded up the Palestinians, who were wanted by the military authorities.
In the meantime, the occupation army announced a state of heightened alert over the Jewish holidays in anticipation of protests, particularly after six prisoners who broke out from a high security Israeli jail were re-arrested, triggered widespread Palestinian outrage.
